La Scheggia is a former farming estate of the XIV century located at the border between Tuscany and Umbria, in the area of Anghiari, near Arezzo.It has belongede to our family for generations. The complex was restored in the '70s in order to accommodate foreign international guests interested in discovering the natural and cultural beauty of the region. The estate original main house was divided into eight independent flats that have access to the vast garden. There are also three separate houses available for single families.

All accommodations are completely furnished and have a kitchen. The architecture of the buildings is typical of Tuscany, the houses are built of local stone, with brick floors and ceilings; the frames of the windows and the fireplaces are made of Pietra Serena. La Scheggia is at the summit of the hills that separate the Arno valley from the Tiber valley, in an area of abundant oak woods. The wild nature of this region, that inspired characters such as Saint Francis who often passed nearby, and the painter Piero della Francesca who was born and lived in Sansepolcro (15 km), combined with its stategic location, makes La Scheggia an ideal base for day trips to the most important art cities in Tuscany and Umbria. La Scheggia is 8 km from Anghiari, a lovely medieval village, useful for all primary needs. Arezzo and Sansepolcro, 15 km away, are much larger towns as well as important cultural centers with all kind of facilities.
Our guests can enjoy a swimming pool, and use the grounds to play soccer, bocce and ping-pong. Tennis courts can be booked in Anghiari, riding is also available nearby. If you prefer to stay in touch with nature, from La Scheggia you can choose to go for lovely walks or horseback riding in the woods, reaching the amazing Castello di Montauto where you will enjoy an outstanding view of the Tiber valley region. Within an hour drive you can reach the Casentino valley, a national park, where trekking fans can climb the "Monte Falterona", one of the highest mountain of the area, from where, in the clear weather you can gaze at both the adriatic and Tirrenian coasts.
